Lemon Peel (cut & sifted) - Tea and Herbs from Mean Bean Coffee Roasters

Tea and Herbs

Lemon Peel (cut & sifted)

$8.002 oz

Citrus x limon is a member of the Rutaceae family. Familiar to many, lemon peel brings characteristic bright, citrus notes to beverages and foods. It can also be added to skin care products and makes an uplifting addition to herbal tea blends and formulas. Dried lemon peel concentrates the citrus flavor so that a small amount of peel creates a lot of zest. Although orange peel is more commonly prescribed in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, lemon peel also stimulates the appetite by encouraging the release of gastric juices to digest food and helps provide vitamin C. Lemon peel is added to scores of herbal teas and herbal formulas for aroma and taste enhancement. Many people eat lemon peel or add it to teas in order to enhance flavor and impart its delicious, citrusy aroma. Precautions No known precautions. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications. Brewing

Water 200-212°F. Steep 5-10 minutes. Leaves and flowers need less time; roots and barks often need more. Roots, bark and dense seeds may benefit from a longer steep or a gentle covered simmer.

  • Use about 1 level teaspoon of loose tea per 6-8 oz. of water unless the product label says otherwise.
  • For blended teas, follow the temperature of the most delicate true-tea base (green/white before black).
