Sometimes called Bohea Souchong or Lapsang Bohea, the blend originated in China with trade to the British and Dutch East India Companies. The three ships raided in Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773, contained 340 chests of Chinese teas, including 60 half-chests of Singlo green tea. Singlo originated in the Singlo (Sung-lo) Mountains of Anhui Province. It was a superior grade of tea that the East India Company needed to move out of its London warehouses before it spoiled.
